The music industry has changed alot over the several years. It used to be a very tough and competitive buisness where there were only a handful of artists that made it big, now it almost seems easy to get out there. Back in the day, you had to goto a company to get your record label, now it's as easy as posting a video on Youtube, Facebook, or somewhere you can get noticed. I think music is at one of its high points right now because it's not really one particular artist that is ahead of the others, there is a variety of generas that the person could take interest to. I myself enjoy hard rock and rap music and I have over 50+ different artists on my ipod that I listen to regularly. It's crazy how fast things change when it comes to music!
